UEFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2020

The prizes (best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward) will be presented at the UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony on Thursday 1 October in Nyon.

For the first time in 10 years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will not appear on the list of candidates for the UEFA Player Of The Year. This year, for quite obvious reasons, the Ballon d’Or will not be awarded and this will be the most important prize.

The three finalists were chosen by a jury of 80 coaches from the clubs who participated in the 2019/20 group stage of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, along with 55 journalists from the European Sports Media (ESM) group, representing the 55 UEFA federations.
The three players who received the most points at the end of the voting are:

• Robert Lewandowski (Poland – FC Bayern München)
• Manuel Neuer (Germany – FC Bayern München)
• Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium – Manchester City FC) best player in the Premier League

For the female players’ award, the three finalists were chosen by a jury made up of the coaches of the eight clubs that participated in the final round of the 2019/20 UEFA Women’s Champions League together with the coaches of the 12 highest-ranked teams.
