After seven years the Marathon returns to Naples. For the first time under the banner of the SSD Neapolis Marathon in its first edition. The event, which sees Italiana Assicurazioni as its main sponsor, will see the athletes competing among the scenic and monumental beauties of the city. The event will take place on Sunday 14 November, along a track of 21.0975 kilometers, which will be crossed twice by the athletes who will compete in the classic distance of 42 kilometers and 195 meters.
As explained by the organizers during the press conference to present the race held at the Maschio Angioino, the event will open its doors on Friday 12 November with the Neapolis Marathon Village, set up in Piazza del Plebiscito, where athletes and tourists can entertain themselves with the many initiatives of the program. The marathon route – shared in part with the other competitions of the kermesse such as the Half Marathon, the Neapolis Sea Run and the Neapolis Fast Walk, the fast walking race – starts from Piazza del Plebiscito, starting at 8:30 am, crossing everything the seafront of Mergellina up to largo Sermoneta, where the Sebeto fountain is located, and then return to the ancient center, passing through the San Vincenzo pier, an area of competence of the Navy which collaborated in the organization of the race, and the Corso Umberto.
“What we have designed and on which the athletes competing on Sunday 14 November will compete, is a track studied and evaluated by the Neapolis Marathon team, technically very valid, without significant roughness and with few sections of paving, which will touch some of the places symbol of the city of Naples, among which the long transit to the San Vincenzo pier stands out, almost four kilometers between the two ways, which represents an absolute novelty for a running test and for which we thank the Navy for its full availability “, explains the president of the SSD Neapolis Marathon, Maurizio Marino.
