A new English-style facility with shops, a museum, a media center, and VIP areas. And restaurants, hotels, cinemas, and gyms could also arise. It is the Erasmo Iacovone Stadium in Taranto: the redevelopment project was also presented in the presence of the President of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano. This is one of the works to be built in view of the 2026 Mediterranean Games. The project was conceived by architects Gino Zavanella, Carolina Zavanella and Riccardo Cefarelli of the Gau Arena studio who also worked on the Juventus Stadium.
The design concept is in English, developed on almost 44 thousand square meters. It will not be a simple stadium, but a multifunctional facility created to host any category of national and international sporting event, or of any other nature. The areas included in the project may consist of shops, museums, restaurants, hotels, cinemas, car parks, media centers, and gyms.
A stadium said the creators of the project, which “will meet the infrastructural criteria of the top national and European series (UEFA 4), whose spectators will be able to see the match in the stands just 5.9 meters from the pitch, while the curves at 7, 4 meters. There will be full coverage, rooms for meetings and events, 20 skyboxes, exclusive VIP hospitality areas, approximately 18 thousand square meters of commercial space, a medical center of approximately 700 square meters, the store, and the team museum. Among the possible commercial activities: a hotel and a wellness center, offices and coworking spaces, video games rooms, gyms, cinemas “.
It is nice to see that even the clubs that play in the third division at the national level understand the importance of having a functional stadium ready to be experienced at the city level 7 days a week and with a very important range of services dedicated to fans and consistent enough to increase fan engagement.
